What is Nordic Walking? Nordic Walking is a complete form of physical activity, born in Finland in the 60s, which consists of walking - and also running, jumping, doing exercises with sticks specially developed for this sports, using the specific technique. It offers a natural, safe and very effective way to improve fitness and to tone the muscles of the body regardless of age, sex or physical condition.
The teaching of Nordic Walking is based on the fact to include the use of walking sticks in the correct way, smooth and harmonious, without changing the natural way of moving. In fact, given the increasing prevalence of postural problems in the basic motor pattern of walking, Nordic walking is essentially teaching people how to get around finding the correct posture.
Fundamental principle of the discipline of Nordic Walking is that the skills learned during lessons and practice should be transferable to everyday life.
The technique of Nordic Walking
The correct technique is based on three fundamental pillars:
- Correct technique of walking
- Correct posture and body alignmennt
- Using correct technique of the sticks
Levels of intensity in Nordic walking
According to the training base and the individual specific objectives, Nordic walking can be practiced at three different levels of intensity.

Nordic Walker Course
The course includes three meetings with instructors one-hour and a half:
- Basic Course
- Technique 1
- Technique 2
At the end of the course you will be issued a certificate of Nordic Walking.
After having obtained the certificate you can participate in a work-out at the beach.
Nordic Walking and Hiking
The Nordic Walking course will be set in two sessions on the beach of Rimini by trainer Vanessa Golinelli.
The third lesson will include a hike in the natural park of Sasso Simone and Nature Guide Simoncello conducted by Thomas Mazzoli (www.appenninotrail.it).
The tour will end with a picnic lunch in forest and the awarding of diplomas.
